Easter

Lieldienas (Easter) is the sixth collection of poetry by writer and poetess Inga Gaile. It takes the reader into the reality of the 21st century, interspersed with reflections of the biblical Easter events. Poignant intonations and the theme of senseless sufferings and human folly alternate with gentleness and longing for trust, hope and love.

I try writing differently in this collection, attempting to change binary oppositions – good/bad, white/black – with formal means. There are poems that are traditional in terms of form but then there are also experiments with phonetics and poems which deal with seemingly unpoetic issues. The theme of personality formation comes to the forefront, trying to comply with society rules, yet at the same time to question them when they stifle the nature of the lyrical protagonist
