Aleksandrs Drēviņš and Nadezhda Udaltsova. In the vortex of time

Catalogue of the exhibition "Aleksandrs Drēviņš and Nadezhda Udaltsova. In the vortex of time".

"The intense art life of Europe and the impact of history significantly influenced people’s destinies, resulting in Aleksandrs Drēviņš’ (1889-place in both Latvian, as well as Russian, art history. His time as a refugee in 1915 led him to Moscow, where the artist arrived on the scene of the active cultural life of the Russian avant-garde. In 1920 Aleksandrs Drēviņš married one of the “Amazons of the Russian avant-garde”, artist Nadezhda Udaltsova. Their creative union continued until 1938, when the cruel wave of repression undertaken by the Soviet regime ended the life of Latvian Drēviņš. Today, the names of these artists have re-emerged from oblivion, with a variety of significant exhibitions throughout the world testifying to the true greatness of their talent."
